Exploring Teacher Placement Cities: Trang, Thailand

Thailand beach

In this blog series, we want to show off some of the cool cities our Greenheart Travelers live in throughout Thailand. Many teachers on this program want to be placed in cities they have heard of in touristy magazines, on Instagram, etc. like Chiang Mai or Phuket, but many of our teachers live in places you’ve likely never heard of before. That’s not to say they aren’t awesome placements – which is why we made this blog series! Cities like Trang allow you to get to know real Thailand, all while living somewhere just as beautiful as the touristy spots.

Today’s blog features Trang. Trang, Thailand is one of our top placements on our Teach in Thailand program, meaning we place a lot of people here. Here are some fun facts about Trang, followed by photos from Greenheart Travelers placed and living in there!

Trang Facts

  • Population: 59,637
  • Province: Trang Province
  • Region: South part of Thailand, considered the “gateway to the islands”

It's OK to take some time for yourself. You can't pour from an empty cup. 🌿 Experiencing scenery like this is the best soulfood.

The last 4 months in Trang have been some of the best 4 months of my life. Hard to put it all into words. Thank you to everyone who made me feel at home while I was here. I couldn’t thank you enough for how welcoming and caring you all are. And thank you to all my students who challenged me and gave me many smiles and laughs everyday. I’ll miss you all! With that being said, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be moving to Chiang Mai to teach English and Art at the start of the next school year. Excited for this next chapter of living and traveling abroad.

Clear your mind of can't. Just sweat, smile, repeat. 👌 45min HIIT followed by a 6KM run in our beautiful park. Blessed to be healthy and able to exercise. 🙏 Time to embrace it fully and become the healthiest version of myself!❤

2018 you were pretty sweet 🤙 You brought 7 new countries, way too many tuk tuk rides, a tattoo, endless laughter, and LOVE — so much more love than I ever could’ve imagined. As I sit planning my 2019, I can only hope it’s half as beautiful. #noplaceliketrang

Out here livin’ in a country that currently feels 150 degrees warmer than back home, and I still throw a sweater on when it’s a breezy day. Just when I start to feel content with my decision to move home in a few months, Wisco gets slammed with some polar vortex “feels like -50 degrees” shiiiiiiit and has perpetually cold me SECOND GUESSING EVERYTHING. 😭🥶 . . . #Trang #thailand #travelthailand #traveltheworld #teachinthailand #greenhearttravel #traveltrang #wanderlust #girlswhotravel #femaleswhotravel #solotravel #backpackerstory #backpackerslife #travelgirls #wearetravelgirls #travelgirlscollective #sheisnotlost #broadsabroad #teachabroad #historyteacher #trangbotanicalgarden #thungkhaibotanicalgarden #xploreasia #explorethailand #adventuresabroad

they say it takes 21 days to break a habit.. and today is my 22nd official day of eating a vegan plant based diet! I’ve been struggling a lot recently with feeling hypocritical by eating animal by-products and claiming to love the environment. (which don’t get me wrong- I do.) so I decided it was finally time to put away my love for cheese (s/o to my German and Wisconsin heritage) and adopt a more self-less diet. people have countless reasons for going vegan and I respect them all so much, but for me it was knowing how harmful the animal agriculture industry has on this planet. I personally couldn’t sit by and continue to be complacent. this post is in no way intended to shame anyone for what they put into their bodies, it is merely something that has been a big change for me recently and that I wanted to share. (that being said, please don’t shame me for my choices either!) thank you so much to those of you here in Thailand, on social media, and at home that have been with me on my journey from recommending podcasts and documentaries to making sure I’ll be able to eat something when we go out for dinner. I love you humans so much, and now I can proudly say that my choices reflect that same love I have for all animals. here’s a glimpse at some of the most beautiful vegan things I’ve been lucky enough to eat here. I’m excited about how this new lifestyle is going to make my body and my heart feel. xoxo 💛🐮🐷🐥🐠🐔🌿
