Are you interested in environmental conservation or an up close experience with African wildlife? Volunteering on the Wildlife Conservation Project in South Africa is your chance to work on a reserve of over 10,000 hectares while learning about animals, their habitats and how you can protect them. Spend time at the base camp in Sabati and at permanent bush camps tracking and monitoring animals, educating local school children, working in the animal rehabilitation center, and much more.
Volunteering Activities:
- Bio-mapping
- Invasive species plant control
- Park perimeter control and patrolling
- Working in the tree nursery
- Education at local schools about wildlife conservation
- Catch and release tagging and monitoring of animals
- Flora and Fauna identification
- Working in the animal rehabilitation center

Requirements to volunteer abroad in South Africa:
In researching a volunteer abroad program, you have already shown you are a leader and open-minded. These are just a few of the traits that our volunteers possess. You’re motivated to immerse yourself in another culture and flexible enough to live outside your comfort zone. You should also:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Consent to criminal background check for volunteers 18 and older (Greenheart Travel will process this for U.S. citizens) – more information
- Willingness to help with any and all needs of the project
- Minimum 2 week commitment (maximum 3 months)
- Early childhood education background and/or teaching experience is helpful, but not required
