Sunday Sunday Sunday oh Sunday…. You come so fast every week what am I ever going to do? I think you’re tricking me and it’s actually only Sunday the 26th of January. It must be because there’s no way it’s the 18th of May. I mean May! No way can it be May. I was just getting told of Grace’s first communion and now she’s off to church doing her second. You crazy crazy Sunday. I don’t know why you can’t just stay away and let me live in the week! Monday came around and we were all exhausted after the weekend in Woodstown. We even went to bed with no Breaking Bad episodes. Tuesday came which was a little better as we were rested up. Not as much screaming or fighting with the girls either 🙂 When Wednesday arrived we were in full swing planning for the communion. To-do lists written out, hair planned, outfits bought, and the next two days or preparing. Thursday showed up and I went and got my hair done…blonde which is millions of times better than my black I once possessed. I actually do love it and is a perfect summer blonde color. A little outside work in the backyard when I got back and even got in some breaking bad. Then Friday, Friday transpired and we were scampering everywhere. Eleanor and I both took the days off to prep, cook, and stock up. We dropped the girls off and then away we went to Tesco, Aldi, Supervalue, Centra, and a couple places in between. We got home and it was already time to collect the girls since they got done at 12. We abandoned the three of them at their Nanny’s house so we could all preparations without distractions. 70 Oreo truffles, 80 scotcheroos, 40 cupcakes, a cream cake, some jello(which they call jelly), and 12 dirt cups later and we were finished with the desserts. A few other bits and pieces and we could sit down out the back with some homeade pizza made by myself 🙂 A little but more Breaking Bad and we went to bed to be rejuvenated for the long awaited Saturday. Saturday finally presented itself and we had a day full of celebrations. Hair done, makeup done, dresses on(well except for Paul who had his really “fancy” clothes on) and we departed to the church. An hour of mass and the first communion was completed. Next on the list: pictures. Eleanor has a friend, who is also Olivia’s play school teacher, that has a lovely venue for taking pictures. We got pictures taken and sat around with some tea, coffee, and biscuits. After that we(17 of us) went to a restaurant for dinner. A steak or chicken later and we were off again. Back to the house we went to put some finishing touches around the house before everyone came. All our homemade desserts, bags of sweets, crisps, dips, peanuts, chicken goujans(really just chicken strips but they like to put some fancy name on them), sausages, and duck rolls displayed around the lot. People came and the came and they came and a few left and then a few more came. They ate and ate and ate and drank and then ate some more then drank quite a bit more(this being Ireland and all there was a rather large consumption of alcohol). Music was played, songs were sung, dances were danced, and everyone was happy, very, very happy. The weather was absolutely brilliant with sun all day and only a little wind in the afternoon. The evening settled down and we sat outside until wee hours of the night. Everyone keeps asking me if I’m planning to come back here and visit but really that isn’t the question for me. The question is just when I’m coming back and how I plan to pay for it while I’m in college. My plan is to come back for Grace’s confirmation. 5 years and I could be back here! Hopefully (fingers crossed). Today I’m going to Tramore for a last little get together at Bernie’s. Maybe a dinner paid for by Grace tonight 🙂 she is a rich woman now! Makes me think I should have my own first communion then maybe I could have money to get back here! 😉 What can I say? I love Ireland! I hope everyone has a great day and week! I’m sure I’ll see a lot of you in just a couple more.

Weekend in Woodstown, Ireland
Oh my oh my it’s Sunday night again! Only a couple blogs left…:/ i will say that I’ve been told to start a blog this summer with my food and recipes that I make so I may do that if anyone is interested 🙂 but anyways back to my Ireland time….Monday after I blogged we(Jenny, Damien, Lauren, Eoghan, Paul, Eleanor, Emma, Grace, Olivia, and myself) went on a little journey to a couple beaches and towns: Passage, Dunmore, and Tramore. We were kind of chased around by some rain but it was still a nice day. Not too much went on during the week. We started planning and getting ready for the weekend that we had out in Woodstown….it started on Friday night. We had 17 students, and Eleanor for the first night. After a day of being in a lovely spot right on the beach and a house to ourselves, we had already finished off 5 loaves of bread, 3 boxes of cereal, 4 jugs of orange juice, 2 heads of lettuce, 60 slices of ham, 50 slices of cheese, and much more. What can I say? We arrree a bunch of teenagers. Ha! We all had really great time. We were right on the beach like little up a little slope and there was the beach. A little bit of rain on Saturday but not enough to stop games of soccer, a swim in the sea, walks on the beach, a little bonfire, and a lot of fun. Saturday night we had the 17 students, 5 adults, 5 kids, and 5 other teenagers. For awhile it was pretty crazy with everyone running around but the house slept 32 people so we had plenty of room. We even got to wake up to a beautiful morning with sunshine on the beach. We got back around 1 today and then went into town so Paul could get clothes for Grace’s communion this coming weekend. I might have got a few things myself even though I have absolutely no room left in my suitcase….what can a girl do? I needed clothes for the communion! 🙂 After all of that we came home and had a delicious chicken curry made by Eleanor who made dinners for everyone Friday and Saturday as well. Now: 7:30pm and everyone is knackered and in bed. Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there! Especially mine! 🙂

Back to School!
Can’t believe it’s Monday! Oops! We don’t have school today so I kinda forgot it was Sunday yesterday and forgot about my blog :/ but well here it is now….Monday it was back to school after a 16 day break…very very hard to go back! So I went to school all week until Friday. I took Friday off for two reasons…for one thing there were 40 people in my class gone on a field trip so we had study halls all day, two; it was my birthday!!! A very long lasting birthday it was I must say. On Friday I made treats for the party on Saturday. Saturday night I had 11 other host students here, Paul’s parents, cousin Lauren, and Eleanor’s mother and aunt. They all gave me a little something of Ireland to take back with me. We all had a great night with a LOT of food. It is just crazy ridiculous that I only have 25 days left with my amazing Irish family. And most likely won’t see a lot of the other exchange students ever again…:( alright enough with the sad stuff and back to the weekend. Yesterday it was rather gloomy so first I watched a movie with my sisters and then went to the movie, Bad Neighbors, with Clara, Roman, and Andreas. When I got back I had an hour to get ready then to town with the parents. We went out to eat at a nice Italian restaurant, got Gino’s ice cream, watched a friend sing in a hotel that was full of American tourists(all of which were at least 65), and to a couple pubs. All in all a great birthday weekend. 🙂 oh and Happy Cinco De Mayo!
Grace joined athletics(track) I went to pick her up on ThursdayAs they say an “Irish Birthday Celebration” done rightthe hood of a coat… still cute tho!a little relaxingI found both of them sleeping when we were supposed to be cleaningthe cutest! Update from Ireland
To begin the long journey of this last week… Monday began with all of the other exchange students (19 in total) from 5 from Belgium, 6 from Germany, 4 from Italy, 1 from Brazil, 2 from Switzerland and 1 from the United States(that’s me). It was a gloomy kind of day so went to walk around town. The 2 from Switzerland made a Swiss meal of potatoes, pasta, and vegetables. On Tuesday we went in around the Killarney National Park and some went to the Torc Waterfall. The Italians made spaghetti carbonara that was really good. Wednesday we had a day tour booked on the bus to go to Dingle and around the Dingle Peninsula. We left at 10:30 and didn’t get back until 5:30. We had another tour booked for Thursday and we made our way around the Ring of Kerry. We were gone for another 7 hours as the Ring of Kerry is 100 miles long. The weather was really great for both Wednesday and Thursday so it was enjoyable. The visibility was amazing and we could see the Skellig Islands. The islands are where monks used to live back in the 7th and 8th century. On Friday we went back into the National Park and went to Ross Castle. It’s situated right next to a lake so it was really pretty. We had a sad night knowing is was the last night of the trip and probably the last time we would see some people. Saturday morning I left at 6 with Alice. It was actually a good feeling to come back to my home here. It may sound weird but I missed the three screaming little children that I came home too. And of course Paul and Eleanor. 🙂 They said the house was so quiet without me! Haha I don’t know why it’s not like I talk very much or anything…. 😉 well now to all of the pictures of the last 2 weeks……

You can’t see it very well but it actually has a trench all the way around it. Around the 7th century the trench would be filled with water and there would be a bunch of huts on the inside circle. They would bring all of the animals in the inner circle with them at night to sleep to have protection. The cottage with the red door would be a common house they had back during the potato famine. It goes on and on and onSee what I mean with the stacked up rocks?A beehive hut that the monks lived in during the 7th and 8th century. Happy Easter!!!! I decided to keep to my ritual and blog today since it is a Sunday…but I will say now that you have to wait until next Sunday for all of the pictures :/ sorry! But anyway back to my previous week….My Easter holidays began on Monday with a cooking class hosted by me, myself, Maddie. Clara and Federica came over to learn how to make the different treats that I’ve been making since I got here. Oreo truffles, scotcheroos, and caramelitas are all loved by most. We successfully completed all 3 dishes and then had a lovely, relaxing afternoon in the sun….yes sun. I know I can’t believe it either! Ireland sun. And it’s been lasting all week!!! Ahh it’s been so nice and hopefully will stay for the upcoming week as well. Fingers crossed. On Tuesday there were 10 of us that went horse riding up in the lakes and forests by Tramore. It was the Australian, Natalie’s birthday so it was all a surprise to her and then we went to her house and had a surprise party too. Basketball, hurling, soccer, pizza, and sweets. So many birthdays! Haha I didn’t do much on Wednesday just got packed for my holiday in Kerry. Thursday started off great by getting a birthday package in the mail from Mom and Dad! Thanks so much by the way:) on Thursday all the girls, Eleanor, and I went to Eleanor friend, Alicia’s house and got dinner and went on a walk through the forest and lake. Friday morning we all got up and headed off to Killarney to start the long awaited vacation. We finally got to the big hotel with a swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, restaurant, pub, and all of our rooms. There are 9 adults and 5 kids for 3 nights and 4 days. We all went swimming on Friday and had a great dinner. Yesterday we went searching for a supposed beach that I don’t believe is even real after looking for a couple hours in a car through the mountains. Even up on the tallest mountain in Ireland. Today the kids all go on an egg hunt and then we’ll walk down to the Torc Waterfall. And this morning the Easter Bunny somehow found me all the way over here and got me an Irish chocolate Easter egg. I meet up with the other students tomorrow to stay for another 5 days and go back on Saturday. Pictures to come next Sunday!!! Have a great easter!!

Climbing the Comeragh Mountains in Ireland
A quite eventful week it has been compared to my laryngitis-laying-around-all-day previous week…..Sunday we went to Dungarvan for a walk, coffee, and up to the Comeragh Mountains. I have to say that when I first saw the mountains I called them hills. I guess my idea of a mountain has a snow covered peak at the top. I said this so we ended up hiking around on them. Even though you can drive up the mountain and walk all around it I would now say that they are in fact mountains. There just isn’t another word that could describe them. You will see them in my pictures below; they are definitely not hills. And I will admit that I was pretty impressed but don’t tell Paul that…..:) They’re so beautiful and fun to hike around. There’s a waterfall called the Mahon Falls with a bunch of big rocks that the water flows down. Paul and I climbed to the top and I was a little red in the face after that one. It had a great view from the top and I never even fell. We had a famous “Fischer family sunday snacking night” so I got to have my first experience in an Ireland Subway. Well let’s just say the girls were laughing when I came out and literally skipped to the car with a smile plastered on my face. But what can a girl like myself do? They had ranch! and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies just like the ones at home!! Monday was a very sad day….back to school after 10 days off! I actually wasn’t behind on anything so as they say here “I was grand.” I even got back to the gym that night. Tuesday was worse to try to make it through the whole day of school so by the time I got in the car I was exhausted and decided not to go to the gym but was so delighted when Eleanor handed me a note that said the post office had a package for me! I had no idea who it could have been and we even made bets on who it might be….it was a real mystery. It was from my lovely Aunt Jane and Uncle Miles! It made my whole day with a letter and all the real American supplies for making s’mores and a curious George camping book. I have to say that I love getting letters and packages from anyone at home, so thank you to all of you have sent things. 🙂 Even my first St. Patrick’s Day card came from my wonderful godmother Jane. Wednesday and Thursday were both back to the gym. Friday there were about six other students and I that met up to get a birthday present for an Italian named Ambra. That’s right…another birthday! We knew a purse that she really liked so we got that for her. Friday night was American night. Eleanor and I made taco mac n cheese. I roasted my amazing jet-puffed mallows in the stove in the sitting room and made real American s’mores for Paul, Eleanor, and me. We also got into the series Breaking Bad so we watched that for some American television. Saturday I woke up and made cinnamon muffins and caramelitas. Mmmm caramelitas… a recipe that I highly recommend to anyone to make. I was going to bring some to my foods class at school tomorrow, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen….ha! Last night we all met up for Ambra’s birthday. For some reason they put me in charge of the present and I forgot it in my room so Paul had to bring it back in. We had a great time and even listened to a guy sing a bunch of Garth Brooks. Today is mother’s day so I got up with the girls and made an omelet and toast. They made a bunch of cards and projects in school and we also had chocolates and flowers. I’m not sure of the plans for the rest of the day but I sure hope that everyone at home has fun in the blizzard 🙂

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland
I have to say that I am profusely sorry that I didn’t blog last weekend. I got caught up which I’ll explain once I get to that part of my blog. 🙂 So to start….with the 12th of March….it was one of our own exchange student’s 16th birthday. We all went to Apache pizza and surprised him with balloons, presents, and even a candle on top of his pizza. Happy Birthday Tilman! I’m not sure if I’m the only one who has noticed this but I feel like I’ve been here for a lot of birthdays…..anyways back to my week. On Thursday the 13th, Federica came over for awhile and had dinner and played games with the sisters. They loved her and really laughed when she started speaking Italian to the dog. On Monday I was in Dublin for St. Patrick’s Day! It was loads of fun with all of the people around and all of the green. They even turned some buildings green with lights! We were all there for the parade which was different than what I was expecting. I mean it wasn’t terrible but they didn’t have any floats and didn’t throw out any candy! Really? What kind of a parade is that? We got home later so that’s why I didn’t have time to blog. Then on Tuesday I had laryngitis and a cold flu and have been out of school all week. Today has been the first day that I have felt pretty good so I decided to blog. Eleanor and I have been cooking like crazy today. Brown bread(the first time I made it and yes mom I can come home and make it there), cake, scones, and rhubarb apple pies. Emma is off camping with her scout group, and Grace, Oli, and Paul are all swimming with the grandparents so it’s just the two of us and a kitchen! Now back to school for 3 weeks then a 2 week Easter Break! It’s crazy how fast time is going….Katie and my mom will be arriving in Ireland in 9 weeks! Just crazy…. blog you all later! 🙂

So Much Happening in Ireland
Jeez I’m almost late to write this!! so on Sunday I went to Bernie’s house to talk about our upcoming trips that we have this year. I definitely do not have very much time left here…it’s crazy! This coming Monday, as you all know, is St. Patrick’s Day so the other students and I are going to Dublin to watch the parade. There will be millions and millions of people there so a lot of fun and hopefully no rain :/ We also have a long trip to Kerry, a day trip to Cork, bicycling in the mountains, maybe surfing, amusement parks starting to open, and a lot of other things that are planned in the next 12 weeks before we sadly depart:( On Tuesday we had a pancake cook off since it was pancake Tuesday. I’d have to say that they do not make a typical pancake over here. For one: their pancakes look like crepes. Two: they don’t use maple syrup….ever. Now I don’t know if it’s just my idea of a pancake but I definitely would think of a fluffy pancake with syrup all over it. Eleanor, her mom, her dad, and I all were in the cook off. They made their crepe looking things and I introduced a real American pancake. Eleanor’s pancakes won, but it was just because they were all intimidated by my strange pancake 😉 And maybe because hers are also very good:D She also made dinner type pancakes which I never would have thought of but they were delicious! It was like a crepe wrapped around chicken and vegetables all in a white sauce. Quite lovely indeed. Wednesday was Eleanor’s birthday so I made Brownie Batter Truffles that turned out pretty nicely and weren’t too difficult to make. We also had friends and family over for tea and cake. On Saturday there were about 8 of us that went to the Irish Handmade Glass Company to blow and carve our own glass… it was a fun and different experience. Today, we went to town to watch the raising of the tricolor flag. There were bands, bagpipes, choirs, soldiers, and mayors all around!! They also raised the American, French, Australian, and Canadian flag. We came back for a little while then went to Paul sister, Jenny’s, house since it is her birthday tomorrow. And of course…tea and cake:) Happy Birthday!:) Tomorrow I have school off to go take a few senior pictures around Waterford. Should be an experience since nobody here has any idea what senior pictures are or what the point of them are…haha! Well I think that’s all for now. Hope everyone in ND is enjoying the warm weather I sent you!!:)

Rainy Days in Ireland
Well I’m sorry to say that this won’t be a very exciting blog… on Sunday I went to a hurling match between Waterford and Galway which was really cool to watch. It got a little rainy and windy, but we stayed til the end. It’s a fast game and looks very hard and also has a lot of running….not a game for me to play! 🙂 Waterford did win though so that was good. Then the rest of the week I didn’t do very much. Went to school, found out that the only grades that go on my transcript for the whole time I’m here are the summer exams(finals). You have to do tests, homework, and essays, but you don’t get any type of credit for it at all. After school I went to the gym three times this week, and must I say that I feel weak because all of the weights are in kilograms so when you can actually lift 50 pounds it’s only about 25 kilograms. (I hope that makes sense to everyone) On Friday night, I went to the cinema with a Brazilian girl named Mariana. We watched “Ride Along” which was really funny and good. Yesterday, we went out to Tramore for a walk on the beach and a coffee. Today, I have to go back out to Tramore to go to my coordinator, Bernie’s house to plan our Easter holiday trip. Since we get a lovely 16 days off, we can plan a few trips. Hopefully we will have most of it planned out today! Also it has been raining like crazy ever since I got here, I think I just haven’t mentioned it because I’m okay with rain since I don’t get it very often at home. Thanks for reading!:)

I just changed the title of my blog because I found out I spelled it wrong and it’s an actual Irish word meaning fun. A lot of people will come up to you and say “What’s the craic?” just meaning what’s going on or something similar.
